Robin Newhouse, the lead investigator for IU's Grand Challenge: Responding to the Addictions Crisis, is the dean of the IU School of Nursing and an IU distinguished professor. Her research focuses on health system interventions to improve care processes and patient outcomes.

Lisa Fukuda, operations manager, manages and coordinates the administration and operations of the initiative and works with senior leadership to help facilitate discussions, analysis and decision-making as well as the implementation of the mission, goals, policies, priorities and programs of the Grand Challenge.

Susan McIlwain, addictions specialist and family nurse practitioner, provides technical expertise on addictions to the Grand Challenge and researchers, plays a role in reviewing requests related to the expansion of scope on projects and assists with assessing opportunities for future funding.
